Testing The Pro V1 And Velocity
Whether using the balls on the golf course or testing on my Flightscope Mevo I couldn’t find much difference in terms of the distance I managed to generate. I can’t say I am greatly surprised having tried many different balls down the years.
In terms of spin, the Pro V1 did produce higher RPMs (but not much) which if you tend to slice or hook the ball may not necessarily be helpful to your scores.

My driver clubhead speed ranges between about 85-90mph and yes I realize my spin numbers are too high. I’m probably losing as much as 20 yards carry!
The area where you may notice more difference is if you rely on spin to help stop your pitches and chips.
If you’ve mastered the one hop and stop then that will be much more difficult with the velocity as it spins quite a bit less. You will need to use trajectory as your main method of stopping the ball unless you play courses with very receptive greens.

High Visibility Titleist Golf Balls
As someone that needs glasses to play I’m always looking for are easier to pick up in-flight or when searching in the rough. Until relatively recently the Pro V1’s were only available in white although now thankfully they do make a yellow option that is much easier for me to pick out.
The velocity is available in some more funky matte colors. I think the orange is likely to be the best option if you struggle with your eyesight. I decided to try the matte blue variation and they can be quite tricky to find on the ground although they do show up very well against the typically grey English sky!
Feel
Given its moniker as a distance ball you’d expect the velocity to feel much firmer. To be fair I didn’t find that much difference between the balls in terms of how they felt off the clubface.
Alternative Titleist Golf Balls
If you are searching for a slightly different level of performance or feel then there are a total of nine different golf balls in the Titleist golf ball range. Aside from the Pro V1 family, there is one other premium golf ball, the AVX. This is another urethane-covered ball but has a lower compression to give players looking for the softest possible feel an option.
At the budget end of the market, the Titleist TruFeel is their joint cheapest ball. This model is also designed to feel as soft as possible for golfers looking for that option.
In the middle, in terms of price, are the Tour Speed and Tour Soft balls. As you can probably guess from the names the tour soft is the low-compression soft feel option while the tour speed is aimed at players looking for a distance golf ball.
